Statement from the Tigray Interim Administration Cabinet

The Tigray Interim Administration takes note of the fact that the Amhara regional state has incorporated Tigrayan territories into its map as well as into its current curriculum. Not only is the map developed by this region with regards to Tigrayan territories irresponsible, it also constitutes further confirmation that the campaign to eliminate Tigray by splitting it into pieces continues unabated.

Rather than putting an end to, and feeling remorse about, the heinous acts of injustice that it has committed and continues to commit against the people of Tigray in areas under its brutal occupation, the Amhara regional government has waded into yet another historic mistake; knowing that this mistake will make it pay a steep price, the Amhara regional government must rectify it without delay.

The federal government’s decision to turn a blind eye to equally irresponsible maps developed by federal institutions as well as the current one by the Amhara regional government and failure to rectify those mistakes and take appropriate measures against the offending bodies and institutions is indicative of its complicity in the matter.
It should be underscored that the Amhara regional government’s provocation at a time when the people and Interim Administration of Tigray are working hard towards the fullest implementation of the Pretoria Agreement to ensure sustainable peace and stability is intentionally designed to scuttle the peace process.
The Cabinet of the Tigray Interim Administration calls upon the Amhara people as well as the rest of the Ethiopian people to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Tigray by insisting on an end to the acts of injustice that the Amhara regional government has committed and continues to commit against the people of Tigray. Failing that, it should be noted that the Amhara regional government will be solely responsible for any consequences that ensue.
